Shot in the Dark Productions is an independent television, film and documentary production company based in New Orleans creating premium factual series for global broadcasters and streaming platforms.

Our work focuses on compelling true stories spanning history, science, culture and the unexpected, from investigative storytelling to visually striking documentary series. Our shows are seen across True Crime Network, Roku, Blue Ant Media, The CW, Tubi, Prime and more including broadcast syndication.

We actively develop projects for international co-production and we partner with networks, studios and distributors seeking distinctive, high-impact nonfiction programming.

We leverage Louisiana’s 40% entertainment tax credit for every qualifying project. Our strong, successful track record with that incentive translates directly into more production value at no additional cost for our commissioning partners.

Shot in the Dark controls its own in-house production and post-production operations, led by Emmy-nominated editor Chris Pownall and award-winning journalist-turned-producer Jacquelyn Ryan. This set up makes us nimble and efficient, allowing us to focus resources where they matter to deliver shows on time and within budget.
